What is better an armour class of +10 or -10?

You know, the answer can be easily found by equipping and unequipping a
character's armor.
The process will take less than 10 seconds and will not invole many high
level brain functions.

Perhaps the problem isn't a low Intel but rather not enough Dex
for mouse clicks... ;)

I have a question relating to armor class. My main character is presently
using the Spider's Bane sword. This sword in enchanted with Free Action.
His armor class with this two-handed sword is -7. I also found another
sword which is one-handed and does extra damage against undead and a few
other creatures, but doesn't deal out as much damage as Spider's Bane. I
can use a magical shield with the one-handed sword and bring my armor class
down to -10. Should I do it and risk not having Free Action just to lower
my armor class?

To each his own. I personally didn't like 2-hand swords in BG because there
really isn't much difference in 1d8 and 1d10. It isn't worth the AC loss.
But if you are doing it for the free action, go for it. Just remember that
boots of speed are no good if you have free action.

Understood, thanks. My main character doesn't wear the boots of speed. I
gave them to Branwen when I found them.

Well, if you have two stars in two-handed style, then you get twice as
many criticals, and on those, 1d10 can be significantly better than 1d8.

In BG2 I heartily agree with you (other than the fact that single weapon
style does that too), but the discussion here was specifically about BG as
is evident when I said this:

But you are definetly right. They beefed up 2-hand swords in BG2. I
actually prefer them now. Decreased weapon speed, additional damage, and
double the crits, along with the VERY powerful instances of these weapons,
particularly in the early game, has made the 2-hand sword my favorite weapon
in BG2 (with perhaps the ecxeption of the Impaler spear).
