SPOILER
Go to the Winspear Hills. If you are a Paladin, don't kill the dragon
untill you are told to do so.

* So much time, so little to do
Whether or not you have a paladin in your party doesn't matter that way--the sword will be there when the dragon
falls, whether you sell it, give it to Keldorn, or give it to a high-level Haer'Dalis. It's just that a paladin PC
will eventually be given a quest to slay that dragon, and will get extra experience for doing it as part of that
quest, rather than doing it without getting the quest.
If you are not a paladin kill the dragon as soon as you are able. For one
thing, he has other good treasure that's worth getting. If you have a thief
in your party, or fighter/thief, keep Carsomyr because high level thieves
get a special ability called "use any item" and can wield it.
Have you ever noticed how enemy mages cast their contingencies even if you
sneak in to spy on them invisibly? It's like they detect your presence and
ramp up for an attack, they also cast true sight. Well, I have a
fighter/mage/thief wield Carsomyr, it's very cool sneaking in and attacking
such mages because I get 2 attacks per round and have a 50% chance per hit
to dispel their magic defenses, not to mention the +5 of the weapon beats
improved mantle and goes straight to their stoneskin even if the dispel
fails.
Yes, find and keep this sword. Long live the fighter/mage/thief and down
with the cowled wizards.

Or a bard.
