Yeah. That Balor (not Balrog - that's from The Lord of the Rings) is a
bit tough. I remember similar problems when I first played the game.
You need +3 weapons (or greater) to hit it. If you don't have any
wander around the underdark until you get ambushed by some drow.
Protect yourself from the stunning gaze use the cleric spell free
action.
Have Jaheira (if you have her) cast iron skins and send here in to the
front line.
I think he has magic resistance so cast lower resistance and blast him
with spells. Magic missle works well as each missle counts as a single
spell so some of the damage will get through.
Cast all the standard protection spells. Haste won't work as most
people have free action cast on them.
Use the cleric spell remove paralysis to free any stunned people.
The cleric spell bolt of glory does large amounts of damage to demons.
David Vrabel.
Or the cheesy way to do it is to put in some summoned monsters and hide your
party round the corner before he appears. That way he'll use up his worst
disabling spells (symbol: stun etc.) an the cannon fodder, after which you
can send in your melee fighters to kill him (still use +3 weapons and plenty
of cleric booster spells).

Use defense spells to prepare yourself:
Protection from Evil
Chant
Chaotic Commands
Haste
Stoneskin
Barkskin
etc.
When fighting him, start off your mages by using spells like Lower
Resistence and Greater Malison and Slow. Then use Damaging spells like
Magic Missiles, Holy Smite, etc.

Also, if you wedge your non-meleers (and for this battle, that's always the
majority of my party) up in the little passage above the hole, you can use
summoned monsters to keep the Balrog on the other side of the room...always a
happy thing from my point of view.

"Patriotism is largely pride, and very largely combativeness. Patriotism
generally has a chip on its shoulder."
- Charlotte Perkins Gilman
He's not that tough, since he doesn't have any of the magical
abilities that Balors are supposed to have in D&D. IIRC, he can only
be hit by weapons of at least +3 enchantment, but that shouldn't be a
problem at this point in the game. :) He also radiates a "demon fear"
aura, so you may want to protect yourself from Fear effects before
triggering him (along with the usual preparations: Haste, Bless,
Chant, Protection from Evil 10' and so on).
If you're improperly equipped, your mages can help out with the 4th
level spell Enchanted Weapon, should you have it. While I haven't
tried Melf's Minute Meteors on the Balor, that spell should also work,
as it does normal as well as fire damage (though the latter is
resistable). It works like a charm on Kangaxx' demi-lich form, at
least. ;) Lower Resistance would also help.
And if all else fails, just indulge daddy's heritage and go Slayer on
him. >:) The Slayer's attacks count as +5 for determining what it can
hit.

Which spoiler? If you mean 'Balrog', it's a mis-spelling.
