Do I need BG2 to use Shadowkeeper?

work PC, then email myself a save game file from my Mac, then edit it
that way.

If you want to edit equipment items, you need BG2 loaded. BG2 has all the
equipment files that keeper reads. If you want to edit stats, you don't
need BG2.
I also don't think your plan will work because PC and Mac files are
different. You need to find a Mac version of keeper.

Shadowkeeper needs certain files from the install. It might work if you use
a PC emulator. I know that's a terrible sin.
If all fails, I could try to edit a save-game file for you.
