Any tips for how to use this - whenever I click on turn page, nothing
happens. I'm still stuck with fireball which I don't particularly
want.

Any good spells in there or should I just sell it when the time comes.

TIA

Gordon

As far as I can remember, if you use a spell once, that page either
diappears or turns, and a new spell is presented to you. If you don't want
the fireball, just fire it off arbitrarily, and a new spell should replace
it.

No, it doesn't turn you can just wait and the spell will be ready at the end
of a resting period. However you can right click it and say turn page.

The spells there aren't exactly awe inspiring though. Fireball's probably
the best of the batch. Just give it to a non casting npc like Ano or
something and have him throw a fireball in with the rest of the mages before
closing in for close combat.

Or sell it.

Turning the page is an action, so be sure to unpause after selecting
Turn Page. Similarly, after telling someone to use it to cast a spell,
don't give them any new commands until they actually cast the spell.

No, I used the fireball some times and also stuck to that, but I did never try
to turn to the next page, so I can't help, but if this is a common bug, maybe
you should try the newest patches from Black Isle.

Equip the book in your quick item slot.
Right click it while in your inventory screen.
Choose abilities.
Choose "Turn Page".
Return to the game and then click the book icon (now a scroll).
Check your inventory for a new paged-book.

There are some good spells in there, True Seeing being one of the better
ones.. especially if you give it to a Fighter or other character who
normally cannot cast such a spell.

Fireball (Level 3) [first page always]
Lightning Bolt (Level 3)
Stinking Cloud (Level 2)
Wyvern Call (Level 6)
Spell Turning (Level 7)
Farsight (Level 4)
True Seeing (Level 5)
Protect / Evil (Level 1)
Invisibility (Level 1)
Burning Hands (Level 1) [last page always]

It's entirely possible to find other Fireball pages; the selection is
random. Sometimes your book will be able to be turned about fifty times,
others, just once or twice. And no, if you get a "bad" book it isn't
permanent.. the random function goes off the game timer or some such
thing, so just try turning the page at a later time if you're having bad
luck.

If you get Wyvern Call, then you can use the book as another figurine,
which can be quite helpful as wyverns are rather strong and can poison.
At the least, they last longer then most spiders that you can summon
do..

This item is very underestimated in it's power, and if you get a good
spell, then make use of it every "day"!

Since this post shows the the correct wy to turn the page I'll reply here to
one thing. Turning pages isn't random. There are three (or four) different
books and which one you get is chosen random. The book I always tend to get
has Minor Spell Turning on the last page. Pretty useful. I think that's the
one that starts with fireball.

There's a limit to how many times you can turn the page. When you get to the
last page, thats it, no more page turning for you. It should tell you though
if you examine it whether or not its on the last page.
