Which class is the best? Druids or Clerics?

Cleric good stuff
-clerics can wear plate mail armor. druids can only wear studded leather
armor.
-clerics have MORE spells.
-clerics can "Turn Undead".
-clerics can be of any alignment

Druid good stuff
-Call Lightning
-they can use spear and small swords
-two quick weapon slots
-faster level gaining (I think)
-shapeshifting (although I think it is useless)

Clerics. The only time you would want to play Druids in BG is if you're
doing it for fun (role playing, trying something 'different', etc)

Only works outdoors. The problem is, all the difficult areas in BG are
indoors, especially TOSC.

Useless. They're limited to leather armor; you don't want them at the front
lines. They can't hit worth squat either. The Scimatar/Sword skill is only
useful for Fighter/Druids, but not pure druids.

The problem with Druids (BG Druids, not AD&D Druids) is that their higher
level spells are awful. I looked through the TOSC manual, and I seriously
could do without all the crappy Level 4 & 5 Druid spells.

I wish they would've balanced the spells between Clerics & Druids better.
Give the duids more 'organic' armor (like Ankheg) to use, and so forth.

I have a level 8-9 group now and my druid sucks most of all...

And I even HAD to give her the Jaheira look and voices..
(stupid, stupid, stupid) But her mainly use is the walking band aid.... Next
time I'll replcae er with a necromancer or so )

I used Jaheria the first time around and now I'm using Brandwen [or whatever
the heck her name is...]

The cleric I'm using has two quick weapon slots so the only combat advantage
that I can think of is the a fighter/druid would be able to add that second
point of weapons skill. Not sure about a plain Druid...

They *do* advance quicker than clerics, but it's basically a "you get what
you pay for" situation. I like being able to slap magical plate on my
cleric, give her some decent gloves [weapon skill or something similar] and
a magic blunt object and send her off to keep the baddies busy while my
archers send them to monster Valhalla. She doesn't get that many straight
kills herself, but she gets credit for a lot of assists.

The expanded priest spells are worth the price of admission. For example,
I've been pleasantly surprise by the animate dead spell. It's been very
handy in a lot of situations. Yeah, the skeletons really can't do much
damage, but they keep the bad guys very busy while I'm killing them. They
stick around for a long time. I use them as bassilisk bait. The bassies
don't seem to be able to effect them with the petrification attack.

The druids might be a better deal when they get to a higher level. We'll see
how they handle it in BG2, but if the higher powered druids in Coakwood are
an indication, they aren't that impressive. I struck down some lippy
archdruid type with a couple whacks. He deserved nothing better. I'm
trudging through cloakwood to deal with bigger problems and I'm getting an
Al Gore style environmental lecture from this putz. I told him to mind his
own business and then he turns on the magical red circle of suicide. It
would have been rude not to oblige him...

Ehh. Fighter/druids can't use full plate.

Fighter/Druids can wear full plate? That doesn't seem
right. It gives the class a split personality. On the one
hand you have the druid who refuses to wear anything that's
not made of dead plant or animal, and the other you have
the fighter who wants to resemble a tank for battle
purposes. Do you mean the ankheg armour?

nope. Druids can wear plate armor. Jaheira is wearing a black talon costume.
Suits her nice, like a sardine in a can.. :-)

Actually I don't know why they can wear it as it means they are going
against their ethos? Is that what you mean? I think so as well, but then
thinking again, they can use scimitars too as well, so no quarterstaffs or
things like that or plant/animal, but like a forged weapon. Well, I'm
clueless! But I know what you mean, they are supposed to have the
restrictions of both classes.

Far as I know, Fighter/Druids can wear full plate, so they can be a tank (especially with a cloak or ring +2). Plain Druids can wear Ankegh-mail. My dualed
Druid that was a fighter does. She now has got some nice weapon-proficiencies, so she dualed.

Xaron (the annoying)

Even worse, it takes forever to cast. By the time Jaheira has finished
mumbling her spell, the baddies are all dead.
