Paladin Spellcasting

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I cannot be bothered to go and look
for my AD&D PHB.

I remember that Paladins eventually gain the ability to cast clerical
spells, but not at what level. I've looked in the BG manual and it doesn't
even mention this so am I completely wrong or just remembering 3E rules?

At level 9 (300000 XP) they get 1 level 1 spell :)

Paladins (except Inquisitors) gain spellcasting ability at 9th level.
That is, BG2 level--can't be reached under the BG1 xp cap.
