Now, I have visited him before and even sold stuff too him. I also installed
the beta patch AFTER I had visited him a few times, but BEFORE I even went to
the map screen where Melicamp is found. Lastly, I am playing multiplayer.
After trying many of the dialog paths, I find that I can help Melicamp by
retrieving a skull for Thalandar (how ever it's spelled.) I just happened to
have a skull and sold it to him...nothing. Dropped it on the ground,
nothing...talked to the chicken with the leader character having a skull,
nothing.
Reload: I leave after he says he needs a skull and get one with out having any
in my inventories before I talked to him. I come back and Melicamp is gone. I
don't have any new dialog choices either. I try all the same goofiness as
above... nothing.
Reload: I try selling Melicamp the chicken...selling him with a skull & w/o a
skull in inventory. I still get no where. I try buying him back...repeat above
actions after selling/buying the chicken...nothing.
So here's the dilemma: either Melicamp disappears and something happens later
or a trigger isn't going off right. Do I meet up with him later? I never got
an XP from the actions and only one journal update about finding a skull will
help Melicamp. Please reply via email as well if you can help, thanks.

There should be a few wandering mobs of skeletons on the High Hedge map.
Kill them and take the skulls they leave behind (you only need one). Note:
skeletons on other maps don't leave skulls, only these ones.

In my case (multiplayer, no patch) I talked to the mage and the
chicken jumped out of the backpack and stayed nearby. I had some
skulls, but the mage would not accept any. I left the building and
entered it again, and at this point there was a new dialogue option.
The chicken did not disappear, it got "antichickenated" into Melicamp.
I have not talked to the mage before the quest.

Hmm.. my problem is that I killed all the skeletons early in the game, but
I didn't keep any of their skulls (I'm a paladin, skulls are yucky). Then
later I found the chicken quest. Now I can't find any more skeletons to
kill. I was hoping for some random encounters or something. Any ideas on
where I can find another skull or some skeletons to kill? Will they
eventually resapwn on the High Hedge map? Any help much appreciated...
thx.. Allen
Have you tried resting on this map?
Marcin
That didn't happen to me at all!! I got the chook... it jumped IN my
backpack and when I found the BIG spellman, nothing. Absolutely
NOTHING HAPPENED!
There were 3 choices of dialog for me.
One was me asking if he was the mage everyone talking about
One was about how I wanna go where I wanna go and if he doesn't
LIKE IT.. he can fireball me. (I don't THINK SO)
and,
the last one was about how I am sorry for disturbing him and should
leave.
I can't SEE how any of those three would led him to asking me about
a skull and the chook. GEEZE! This is driving me insane but it's
a wicked GAME though.! hahah

Well I have a problem. In a fit of rage ( or maybe stupidity ) I
killed the mage and his 2 flesh golems after I bought every thing that
I thought I would need. Now I have the chicken and can't do anything
with it. Sheeesh.
Don't worry - yesterday I played again and the chicken did not
survive the treatment. No experience.... And the woman in carnavall
did not survive either. Bad day...
Marcin
That's it - choose that one to start the dialog up. Save first though,
because if the spell goes wrong it'll blow your chook into the
afterlife.
Tom
The chicken's survival is random. Save your game before hand. If he dies,
restore and try again. :-)
