Imoen and spellcasting

problem with Imoen casting spells. In fact, she can't cast any spell she's
memorized. When I click on the spellcasting button, there's a whole list of
spells, but Imoen can't use them. They're all highlighted in red/brown. How
come? I made her rest a few times already and in her mage book most spells
are memorized. I don't understand why I can't let her cast those spells?
Could anyone help me? Thanks in advance

I was wondering Im not far into the game - but will special armour in BG2 be
able to bypass this ?
I recall in BG1 her Shadow Armour worked OK with spells right ??
Or am I wrong on this one ?

You're wrong on the shadow armour, but there are suitable items available at
various points in BG2. For a start, there are a couple of pairs of Bracers
of Defense available in the Adventurers' Mart that are equivalent to very
decent armour, and later you may well find armour that you can wear while
spellcasting.

You're mistaken about the shadow armour in BG1. I think only Drizzt's
armour allowed a fighter/mage to cast spells while wearing it, and
even then that may have depended on which revision you were playing.
However, I think you will find armours in BG2 which ought to let you
cast spells while wearing them. But don't forget archmagi robes set
your AC to 5 and give 5% magic resistance, which is nice. Oh, and if
you find Jan Jansen, you might want to examine his clothing - he has a
most individual sartorial style.

Is she wearing any armour? Metal armour will negate a mage's spells.

Any armour other than elven chain for elven fighter/mages and a couple
of the Bard specific chains prevents spellcasting.

Imoen cant cast spells at the start due to the intense pain in her head.
