Actually I've got problems in the Temple Ruins north of the Umar Hills. I
went into the dungeon and picked up that sun gem (or whatever it's called)
and then moved over to the lava pool. To do this I had to go through that
weird door. Everything seemed ok and I saved the game and went to bed. Now
today I started up the game and I don't have the sun gem anymore. I can't
figure out what happened. What's the sun gem for? Should it have gone
missing? Do I need it again? If so, how do I get it back?
Also, I didn't pick up Mazzy when I rescued her. Is she crucial to
completing this quest?
best regards,
Jan
It's the gem that allows you go through the shadow door. It has disappeared
when you went through. You don't need it to get to where the Shade Lord is.

No, there is more dialogue with the shades as they are her former friends
but you don't need her. She is a fine fighter though and probably the best
archer available as she has * * * * * in short bow.
F.
Don't you listen to what Mazzy said to you?
YOU NEED THE SUN GEM TO OPEN THE SHADOW DOOR! The gem is consumed in the
process!
And a warning, there's a total of 3 shadow doors in the dungeon, but only 2
sun gems. Think carefully before using them.

Not crucial.
Armstrong.
The second shadow door doesn't use up a sun gem, and you can only get
the second gem after going past it, so there's really no problem.
