I saved the ancient idol (Idol of Kozah the Stemstar), after I came out of
the acrheological site and killed the mage, because I remember hearing that
you can sell it somewhere in the city for a good price or a magical item. I
think that it might have been in combination will another item. Does anyone
know anything about this?

Although the idol can never be 'sold' for any decent amount of money, if you
give both it and the ancient armor (found under Firewine Bridge) to the Ghost
of Ulcaster, he will give you a mighty and powerful weapon; the Vampiric Sword.
(Just remember to identify it before equipping.)

Some people say that all the world needs is love.
I say it just needs a good kick in the ass.

Just what does it do anyway? What stats does it have? I want to see whether I
should kick myself for giving the armour back and selling the idol... :-)

You've better give back the armour to the others ghosts in firewine and sell
the idol : the vampiric sword is cursed.

I tried it today, to see if this rumored weapon actually is in the game, and
I was surprised. It is.
As far as I'm concerned, no, do not engage your foot in such an unpleasant
activity... unless perhaps you had a character with 20 in constitution...
no, propably not even then...
It is a cursed long sword +1. +1 to damage and THAC0, and the cursement is
very interesting: since it is cursed, you can't remove it (the description
said something rather odd, which could be interpreted that you can't remove
the weapon even with a remove curse spell. but I doubt that), and the big
thing is that when you hit with the weapon, you lose health, and the person
you hit will gain some! It would be an awesome weapon in the hands of a
fighter with a constitution of 20 (you could release all your cleric healing
spell slots since the fighter would regenerate with time), if it wouldn't be
for the thing with cursed weapons: you can't use any other weapons while you
have it equipped...

I think that the weapon is quite clearly an easter egg, since the ghost in
Ulcaster School ruins only says his original "We will all live again....
some day..." and take the armor and idol from you, and give the sword. The
sword looks just like a long sword+1 also, and from the description you can
also think that the developers added the weapon just to satisfy their
perversed needs.
