You don't need Minsc.
Whatever version she is always IN a pit. You can't see her without
sending someone down the pit. You can find her even if Minsc is a pile
of ash.

There are three pits at the Gnoll stronghold, and naturally she's in
the one that takes the longest to fight your way to :)
I got her out before talking to Minsc and added him later. I have
totsc installed, and it was a very stiff fight to get to the pits. At
the last pit over 50 came at us and it took a fair while to wipe them
all out. However they are not the toughest opponents in the game so if
you can make it up to the edge of the pit you should be able to take
out the final defenders - whose numbers will vary, you may not get as
many. Dynaheir is at the bottom - you climb down the log stairs to
get her.
So why did you reduce Minsc to a pile of ash? Who's going to look after
poor Boo !!!

I would never do such a thing. I was just starting to get sick answering
questions about where you can find Dynaheir. And even more sick of
misinformation, either with or without Minsc you can find Dynaheir. I
have read posts that claim that you have to have Minsc in the party to
find her. Strictly speaking it is better if you get Dynaheir before
Minsc, that way you don't have to worry about Minsc attacking you
because you found her 10 seconds too late.
BTW I wonder if Coran will complain if you kill and sell the wyverns
before taking him into the party?
The only npc you can't get if you do the quest before you pick him up
is Yeslick, since I don't think you can return to the mine after
flooding it.
And I can take care of Boo. I already do it. I named my hamster after
him:-)

I'm not sure of the answer to this question, but according to what _I've_
seen, in BG, Coran doesn't complain, if you install TOSC afterwards, Coran
starts complaining, and then eventually leaves the group. Which is why I
had to start over :P

When a mage reaches level 5 then he/she can learn level 3 spells.
Character level and spell level are not the same thing.

Mage (and cleric) spell levels are not equivalent to experience levels (see
page 141 of the manual).
Basically, you increase in spell level once for every 2 experience levels -
so you gain 2nd-level spells at 3rd-level, 3rd-level spells at 5th level,
4th-level spells at 7th level and 5th-level spells at 9th level.
Intermediate experience levels do increase the number of spells you can
memorise, though.
