Hello,
I just can't seem to kill that beast. My best weapons only do 1 or 2
points of damage. He is immune to most of the magic. And he regenerates.
OTOH he deals out 15 to 20 HP when hitting. Quite hard.
Any suggestions?
TIA
Martin

Make sure you have some "pure" elemental magic in the game. That means some
spells that shoot "pure" fire (not just a fire storm, or something related
to fire) and "pure" ice. Remember to only use the right magic for the right
forms, assuming you know the strategy for this guy's shifting forms.

When you get him down to a yellow circle (running away), gang up on him and
just have everyone hitting him with SOMETHING, anything. You should kill him
if you are at a high enough level.

Wand of the Heavens works well on the fire-weak form.

Oh yeah, and a walkthru once said that you could trap him in the gas chamber
and that would kill him. I tried that, and it never worked for me. Anyone
had any success with this strategy?

Tried that, no way for me. He is locked in there in my current savegame.
Won't die.

As other people have suggested, you'll need to use spells which inflict
damage appropriate to his current form. Weapons like the Dragon's Breath
halberd and the Flail of Ages, which inflict multiple elemental damage
points, really show their worth in this battle, especially seeing as how
he has very high, golem-like damage resistance.

Vs the Golem (Ice ) Form = Flame Arrows, Flamestrikes
Vs the Demon (Fire ) Form = Ice Arrows, Cone of Cold, Ice Storm
Vs the Elemental (Air ) Form = Acid Arrows, Poison
Vs the Plant (Slime) Form = Bolts and Wands of Lightning, Chain
Lightning

You find it easier if you release him when he's in the ice form, as fire
spells and abilities are among the most numerous you'll likely have
available. It's entirely possible to kill him with such spells before he
has a chance to change.

It also helps to have summons like Efreeti or Nymphs that can help you
cast even more spells as well.

Even so, he's quite tough. I thought that with my fire arrows and ice arrows
I could take him no sweat, but they only hit 1-2 pts of damage. I eventually
ended up killing him with numerous 1-4 pts of damage inflicted by each party
member, with the occasional 12-18 pts of damage when the appropriate magic
is used for each form.

I highly recommend playing the shell game with him until you can get
him into his plant form. Once there, lightning bolt from a right angle

Thanks everybody, I managed to finish him off. Still it took some
charges from the rod of resurrection to do it.
