Okay, I give up. I am in the Sarevok's castle. I'm assuming this is the
end of the game, the final confrontation. But I am getting slaughtered
every single time. What in the world am I doing wrong? His minions are
hitting me with multiple Fireballs, Webs, and Death spells. And in the
off chance that one of my guys lives, then one of the several high level
warriors pretty much instantly comes and destroys him or her.

So what am I missing? Was I supposed to gain allies before entering
here? It is just me and my 5 NPCs right now......

Thanks for any help,

Joshua Rowan

you'll get many ideas, here's mine.

lay skull traps and glyphs of warding. send a guy up to say hi. and run back
to your party (DO NOT SET OFF THESE SPELLS). His minions will be thrashed
and then you have just him.

If you got a fighter/mage use mirror image and take Savorak on mano-a-mano
(my favorite), if not summon monsters and missile him to death.

Before going to fight him.... take a trip to sorcerers sundries and buy a
couple of wands of monster summoning.... and some wands of heavans.....

when you go in.... summon a couple of groups then send someone ot say hi....
bring him back and command your monsters to attack... keep your men back
and keep summoning and when sarevok comes for you, hit him with wand of
heavans.... good luck.... you'll need it!!!

Also, now is the time to use all those potions and scrolls you've been
saving for a rainy day. Hit your characters with Protection from Magic (most
essential IMO), Potions of Power, Heroism, Giant Strength, Oil of Speed,
etc. You won't need them again after this, so use 'em or lose 'em.

And if you can, focus all of your attacks on Sarevok. Once he dies, all his
friends stop fighting. The fireballs are arrows of detonation; try knocking out
whoever's using them.

Is it me or is that once the fighting starts here, you can't leave the
room? I was able to leave and refresh as I was fighting the npc around
the pereimiter of the room, but once I destroyed the mage, I couldn't
leve the room or rest.

My strategy was to first have your party hasted. Then have someone up to greet
Sarevok and his flunkies. Then have your party run to the bottom of the screen.
After that pick of Sarevok's henchman while running from Sarevok. Have archers
with Arrows of Piercing attack Sarevok and run around the area avoiding
Sarevok. If you do this correctly Sarevok won't even get a hit on you. Oh did I
mention that I killed Tazok before I even talked to Sarevok?

Yeah, I did that too, but I still had a few problems when one of the
mages cast 'chaos' at my party (along with death cloud, web, and
suchlike). I got Sarevok, but there were only two of us left standing
8<. - Minsc minced three of the casualties himself.

I also ran afoul of the 'non-defusable' traps in the middle of the room.
Oh yeah, there's a couple of the clowns with flaming swords over on the
right, although they normally don't come into play, unless you run in
that direction (I took them out first too).

I found that it really pays to keep at least one scroll/potion of magic
protection for each party member to use in the final fight. With your whole
party protected from magic as the fighting starts, it all goes a lot more
easily.
