I've been to the east, found the sewers, and killed the numerous
carrion crawlers. I've also killed the Ogre Mage who, before he died,
boasted that he was responsible for the carrion crawler attacks. He
was using them to drag victims to the sewers: the crawlers got the
meat, he got the possessions of the victims.
After all this, why does Scar say (paraphrasing) "Hey, don't worry,
I'll get someone else to solve that problem since you obviously can't.
Here's another mission..." when I return? I get no money, no
experience bonus, nothing. What did I miss?
Yes, I know the sewers go all over the city: does Scar expect me to
kill everything in the sewers? That seems silly: I mean, the critters
(including the carrion crawlers) keep re-appearing. Or is Scar
mentally defective (I.E.: a software bug)?

I'm sure I had a similar problem with this quest, but can't remember exactly
how I got round it.

Actually, I *think* (theory only) that talking to him the second time
without having the quest done was what broke poor Scar's little mind.
The first time you talk to him after the Seven Suns quest, Scar tells
you about the sewer problems. I accidentally talked to him a second
time, before I had found the Ogre Mage: he said "come back when you
are done". I went away, found and killed the Ogre Mage, and came
back. The *third* time I talked to him, he said something along the
lines of "Oh well, I'll send someone else to deal with the sewers.
Meet me outside to talk about the Iron Throne..."
I'm pretty sure it was the second discussion that caused the problem,
because I went back to a pre-conversation saved game, talked to Scar
once, and did the whole sewer quest before talking to him again.
Voila! I was rewarded with experience and money.
As part of my victorious conversation, Scar asked me if I found any
evidence such as a ruby ring belonging to some society girl who
disappeared. I couldn't remember finding the ring but said "yes"
anyway. Scar seemed to take my word for it, as nothing was reported
as disappearing from inventory :)
