*boggle*
Secret cow-levels are all part and parcel of CRPGs these days it
seems. It's a joke, and doesn't exist. Unlike the CowKill scroll,
which isn't a joke, and does exist.. ;-)

Firstly you have to locate the map that has the most cows on it (can't quite
remember which one - might be Nashkell).

Stand within the herd of cows and cast "knock" on the one with the biggest
udder.

She will disappear and a hole in the ground will appear.

Enter and prepare to battle the Bovine Bull God of Bessie!

Teehee ;)

It it exists, do you find it in a weird place in the game or cheat to get
it?

A while ago someone posted a message saying they got it form a dead
cow. I've never been into beef bashing myself *grin*, so I wouldn't
know about that.
You can get it by enabling cheats (Cheats=1 under [Game Options in the
Baldur.ini file), hitting Ctrl-Tab and typing
Cheats:CowKill()
(maybe lower case "k")...

So that's where I was going wrong. I thought it next to the borg in
Durlag's Tower, y'know, just after you kill the lesser spotted jabberwock.
It kind of upsets me though when people print all these spoilers however ;-)

Bessie is a bull god?
Some cow-tipper musta snuck up and put the girdle of masculinity/femininity on
her. ;)

Hey Purple - do you know if all these cow level rumours started in
AGD?

No no, the Bovine Bull God is actually a minion of the Great Goddess Bessie.
He's her defender. You have to get past him before you can consider battle
Bessie herself!

I can't believe you didn't know that ;)

You also forgot about the secret Nessie subquest:

After you've beaten Bessie in Nashkel, when you return to CandleKeep you
have to cast Dimension Door ON TOP OF Nessie. This will teleport you to a
battle with Nessie and her guards, where if you win you will be rewarded
with the Udder of Never Ending Milk + 5... +10 HP to EVERYONE in your party!

Wow :)

I was actually gonna ask these people if they might have possibly
played just a little too much Diablo. AFAIK the whole "cow level" thing
did indeed start with Diablo. I don't remember ever seeing "cow levels"
(or whatever) for any other game prior to D.

Don't you hang in AGUT aswell? I thought I saw you in there (took me
awile, but I finally bought UT)

So Methie, do ya play any games *without* cows in them? ;)
