Thieves Guild in Baldur's Gate

Hello,

 

I just got into BG (damnit, it's big!) and I got a quest from the thieves guild, well, two quests really, the first one is to steal three things from somewhere and the second is to meet someone at the Short Surgery Inn (or something like that, I forgot what it was exactly)

 

Now, where are the two buildings?? I have time to look around in BG for the first one (ten days) but I have to get to the Surgery Inn in about three game hours..

the gate between the Lower City and the Upper City.

The second quest is to help Narlen with a burglary. You must meet him
outside the Splurging Sturgeon inn in the north-east part of BG. Only a
thief can accomplish the mission, and you must move the rest of your party
some distance away from Narlen before initiating dialogue.

Rune's right. However, you might find it much more advantageous
to your party if you do the "first" as the very last. (Strictly
speaking, "do" whenever you wish; just don't claim the reward
until after others.)

Both quests take place in the NE of the city. You need to go to Oberon's
Estate to get the three items from his daughters on the 3rd floor, and the
Splurging Sturgeon Inn is on the next screen North.
