Despite Matrox claiming AWIII as a "new addition" to their m3D roster (and
pathetic attempts from their tech support area), I still have corrupted
graphics making it unplayable.
Thanks,
Dave
Below is what I have on the matrox cards - not sure if it's applicable
to yours or not. In what way are the graphics corrupted? Give me
as much detail as you can think of - thanks

Name: Matrox Mystique 220 / Matrox Millennium II
[http://www.matrox.com]
Chipset: MGA-1164SG / MGA-2164W
Driver Version Tested: 4.0 DX3 Release
(MGAPDX64.DRV #4.10.01.3800)
Frame rate Range: 10-20fps
Comments:
Besides these cards' lack of support for most of the effects features
used in Air Warrior III, the performance is fine and is completely
playable.
The Mystique can do bus mastering and fog in the latest drivers.
However, you might want to try flying without fog first and then
try adding it, you'll probably want to turn it off. Here's how you
enable them manually in the driver:
1.) Right-click on the desktop and select properties.
2.) Click on the Settings tab.
3.) Click the "PowerDesk..." Button
4.) Check the "Use Bus Mastering" and "Use fogging acceleration"
buttons.
5.) Restart Windows.
Known Problems:
1.) Chipsets do not support Alpha Blending or Filtering, the
Millennium does not support fog. This severely limits their look
and feel. No alpha blending means no sun flares and blocky ground
and sky textures.
2.) Because of the lack of alpha blending, AWIII uses a pixel dot
pattern to simulate blackouts and redouts.

The Matrox m3D is an add-on card devoted to 3D acceleration only (using the
PowerVR chipset). It has nothing to do with the Mystique or Millennium
(even though I am using a Matrox Millenium with 4MB as my primary card).
The graphics are corrupted as follows:
- big areas of black (or other colours) blocking out various areas outside
the cockpit while flying
- Smoke and explosions are not translucent (white squares around every one)
I am using the latest version of AWIII (3.02) and was pinning my hopes on
this solving my problems.

ok Dave - here's what I have on the PowerVR chipset - let me know
if any of this is of any help. Thanks

Name: PowerVR Ref. Board [http://www.powervr.com]
Chipset: PowerVR PCX-2
Driver Version Tested: MR 4.0.1c2-build 14 Release
(#4.0.1.34dm)
Frame rate Range: 10-25
Comments:
Good frame rate, but the emulated vertex fog is very segmented and
doesn't look very convincing. Effects will have white squares around
them because some of the alpha/colorkeying isn't supported properly
in the driver. Requires a custom setup in the Display Properties.
Before Flying with a PowerVR Card, you must set up the driver
specifically for the game as you would for any other game on the
PowerVR chipset. If your PowerVR card does not have these controls,
contact your card manufacturer for updates or help with setting up
your driver.
1.) Right-Click on the desktop and select "Properties...", then click
on the "PowerVR" tab.
2.) Make sure "Enable PowerVR HAL" and "Optimized 2D/3D Acceleration"
are checked, then select the "Advanced..." button.
3.) Click on "Add..." and locate the AIRWAR3D.EXE executable in the
root Air Warrior III directory on your hard drive.
4.) Once that is finished, click "OK" and make sure Air Warrior III
appears in the "Application Details" dropdown menu.
5.) Check ALL the option checkboxes EXCEPT the following: Gouraud
Specular, Table Fog, and Use Adaptive when MIP Mapping.
6.) Move the "Translucency Sort" slider all the way to the right to
"Fast".
7.) Uncheck "Override Application Filtering".
8.) Now use can run Air Warrior III and get most of the experience
of the game.
Known Problems:
1.) Color Keying and some Alpha Blending modes are not supported so
effects won't display properly.
2.) The emulated vertex fog may not look good, but it
does work, with very little performance hit.

I also have a problem with the cusor icon not going transparent when I
am inside the cockpit. I am using a Diamond S220 with MS certified
drivers and DX5. Does anyone have any suggestions?
