Does anyone know of a magic item in any 1e, 2e, or 3e book that
creates alcohol? I'm looking for something like a weak decanter of
endless water that only creates booze.

Thanks!

I have a vague recollection of an Alchemy Jug in 1st ed that could
create limited amounts of alcohol.

I think I recall a mug that made ale. But I've read so many magic item
books, for so many systems I have no idea if the item was 'official'. I
know that I have used such an item in more than one campaign.

The everfull mug from magic Item Compendium will create "weak" wine.

Digging my 1e DMG out there is indeed the alchemy jug which will
produce among other things 4 gallons of beer or 1 gallon of wine or 1
gill of alcohol upto 7 times a day

There's a mug somewhere that creates stronger and stronger alcohol
each time it's filled. IIRC that was back in 1E and I can't recall
the name.

There are several.

Leomund's Mug (Dragon Magazine #28): "When told to fill, the item
produces an excellent wine or beer. The mug can function 5 times per
day. The item must be cleaned with Sweet Water or Holy Water at least
one time per week or it will never function again. The cleaning is
not necessary if it has not been used during a given week.

Mug of Plenty (Moonshae): "When the command word is spoken, it
immediately fills with light or dark ale or thick mead. When drained,
the command word causes it to fill again. While not particularly
useful on adventures (although you never know), this is perhaps the
most popular magical item among the isles."

Others have already mentioned the 1E/2E Alchemy Jug and the 3E
Everfilled Mug. Also mentioned (though not by name) was this item:

Zagyg's Flowing Flagon (1E Unearthed Arcana): "Somewhere on the vessel
is a line of magical writing - the words of a toast. The first
individual to pick up the flagon is able to read the words but no
other can do so (normally or magically) until they become the owner.
The toast phrase is read to activate the flagon - and each time it is
activated, the phrase changes. Recitation of the magical toasting
words causes the flagon to fill with good tasting but rather weak
wine. Each time the flagon is is drained after that, it refills
itself with better tasting liquid. The weak wine initially therein is
of about 7% alcohol content. The next is about 10% alcohol, the third
draft of wine is about 13%, the fourth is port and about 20%, the
fifth is near-liquor of some 40% alcohol content, and the sixth and
last draft is a brandy of nearly 80% alcohol.
The typical flagon contains contains about 1 pint of liquid
(16 ounces). It is 90% unlikely that any creature partaking of the
first draft notices the increase in alcohol of the second, third and
so on. Thus, unsuspecting drinkers are quickly and easily made
intoxicated and possibly brought to a stupor by the contents of the
flagon. The container is usable a maximum of 3 times per day."

Clearly written by an American. A pint is 20 ounces, dammit!

What else gets measured in pints?

Or is worth drinking, come to that?

Anything liquid.

Not beer, that's for sure.
