What is the point of Leomond's Tiny Hut? It creates a sphere that attracts
attention to everyone around and doesn't protect those inside from attacks
(I don't think it keeps enemies out, for that matter!).

The trouble with American journalism, in short, isn't that it's too skeptical,
but that it's too willing to throw skepticism to the wind when it suits the
agenda of proclaiming every war a Vietnam and every Republican president a
Nixon.

It protects those inside from the weather outside and those inside it are not
seen by those outside, even if they see the sphere.

If you never use weather, it's less valuable.

If your bad guys never use ranged attacks, it's less valuable.

If your bad guys use line of sight targeted magic, it's pure gold. If
your players must deal with desert heat/sandstorms or the occasional
blizzard, they it's a really useful thing.

You ever have to carry a ten man tent? That right there makes it
invaluable. Plus temperature controlled comfort. Which can mean the
difference between life and death in the wild.

It will save you from environmental threats.

It's a tent, for goodness sake! It moderates temperature extremes, if
they have an influence on the campaign. Useful in howling blizzards,
for instance, when even the natives can't see what they're hunting if
they go out.

Makes a great hand grenade, thrown into a small room then activated!

This is going to be really long winded and detailed but you asked the
question.

Doesn't a camp fire draw attention? If you have one inside the hut, no one
can see it. It is really not that visible unless you set it up on a plain
or hill top and even then unless someone is close they will not be able to
tell form a regular type rise. I guess if you have good enough lowlight
vision you would see it was actually a perfect hemisphere shape.

Darkvision is limited. Most creatures would have to come within 60 feet to
see it. Only couple of dozen (if that many) can be 120 feet away and only 3
or 4 can see it beyond 120 feet (horizonwalkers, shadowdancers, adventurers
with the right spells and equipment, and 1 or 2 creatures).

In the woods observers have to come to that clearing.

No it does not keep enemies out. But then neither does the 20 pounds a
personal tent weighs (poles, stakes, ties, etcetera). It has no weight
since it is created when needed.

If the outside temp is from 0-100 degrees F (-18 to 38 degrees C), it keeps
the temp to a nice perfect 70 degrees. Beyond those temps it will go
down/up on a degree for degree basis. That means if it is 140 F (sauna
temps - dehydrate in less than an hour), you are at 110 inside (sweltering
yes but no dehydrating in less than an hour) or at -40 temp outside (good
for freezing flesh to objects), it is 30 degrees in side freezing but a
little fire will keep you fine. (When crossing deserts we rest inside
during the daytime with the animals. It might seem like a tight fit but we
actually measured it is actually about 1256 square feet (20'radius a=400pi).
That is easily room for 15 people and 15 horses. Enlarged, via empowering
the spell, you get 2827square feet. You can put the animals on a line
tether allowing them to graze and hold 35 men and horses.

It does let you look out and you can see exactly what is getting ready to
attack, how they are equipped, how many, etcetera. But they just know that
there is at least one mage. How powerful?? Well they can at least throw a
fireball and lightning bolt, hmmm. And they might have others with them,
hmmm. How are they equipped? Most enemies it will give pause, giants no,
dragons no, gnolls, orcs, bandits, all definitely. (Remember there might be
15 or more people inside). But empowered (maybe 35 - 70 men, they do not
know how many horses you have) would cause a giant to pause before
attacking, maybe even a dragon (small one) would look elsewhere before
attacking it.

It protects from strong winds, rain, hail, sandstorms, etc. Yes a tornado
or hurricane can destroy it but would your tent last there. And if you have
ever bumped into the material of a canvas tent in a rain storm, it will
start leaking. The tiny hut does not.

Finally you can put it up in like 6 seconds. You cannot even do that today
with the fanciest of bending rod super light weight material.

No, this is a spell I look forward to my mages having to be replaced by
Leomunds Secure Shelter (which is actually MUCH smaller (400 square feet)).
If you combine the two, you get an airconditioned home with beds, desks,
etc. And you stake the animals outside in comfort for them too.
