faster then a pci card. but what do i need to connect it. does it use a
special slot or does it plug into the pci slot? just curious how to connect
the thing thanks

New motherboards started coming with an extra slot for video cards called
AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port). Its suppose to be faster than PCI but test
have not always shown this yet. You need a PCI video card for PCI slots
and/or an AGP video card for AGP slots.

It connects to a agp graphics card port, you have 1 (maybe more but not that
ive seen) on the new Pentium 2, celerons, AMK K6 2, Cyrix II etc etc.

AGP isn't really any better than PCI. AGP 4 x may well be, but who knows?

An AGP version of a video card does indeed require a special slot.
Accelerated graphics ports are showing up on more higher end Pentiums and most
all PII's. The AGP slot itself is faster than a PCI slot but the video card
itself is the more important factor. But, one thing I have yet to see is
strong 3Dfx support heading towards the AGP.
I have a PII 350 with a Diamond Viper 330 sitting in the AGP slot and a
12MB Diamond Monster 2 in a PCI. The Monster is by far and away the better of
the two. My plan of attack is to install another M2 and then scrap the Viper
in place of one of the Canopus AGP cards with reverse pass through. This setup
will deliver outstanding 3Dfx performance on your choice of any size
television.
