Nothing I could ever say could express the joy in my heart. I have
started my journey and indeed it is wonderous!
My initiation was one of the most incredicble experiences! On the night
of my initiation, we had in Northern Virginia, an extremely violent
thunderstorm that produced one tornado, lightening strikes that downed
trees and knocked out power over much of the Washington DC metro area.
Winds were reported up to 150 mph! In its wake it left a mess that is
still being cleaned up today. Fortunately, no injuries were reported that
I have heard of.
The Lodge decided to have the initiation anyway, even without electrical
power or even emergency lighting. So the entire ritual was performed by
candle light! A first for the Elmer Timberman Lodge! I am not sure who
enjoyed the ritual more, me or the over 20 Brethern who came to share in
my special night! :))
Having started on the degree work, I cannot tell you how much I wish I had
a photograhic memory! :)
For me, the more I try and understand the symbolism of the night, the
storm itself was symbolic of my life in darkness prior to the conferal of
the EA degree. I have much to learn and have in my heart a strong desire
to do so!
Thank you for sharing with me this special moment. It was an experince
that I tried to prepare for, but I was not. It is an experience that I
welcome and one I will always treasure for all the days of my journey
toward the East!
