In theory free.teranews will do this; but I have noticed that in some
cases the messages will simply not appear on any server (sometimes not
even on teranews itself). Therefore I would like an alternative.
Text-only is sufficient, but anonymous posting is a must.

In some newsgrups you will find topics like Scientology or Hisb ut
Tahrir. Can't you imagine that some people might want to express their
opinion about such topics, without having to reveal their identity to
the entire world?
Besides, as I allready said, this ability already exists in
free.teranews and you yourself is using it via easynews. What I was
asking was simply, if somebody knew of another server, where you could
get it for free - if you renounce on binaries.

The only "anonymity" there is the absence of an NNTP-Posting-Host header
or any other containing the poster's IP number in clear text. Many
news-servers are set up that way; just look at the headers of posts to see
which ones.

The closest you'll get to real anonymity in newsgroups is to use an
anonymous remailer - but don't expect anyone to give such posts much
attention, even if they read them.

Not strictly free, but a block account from Octanews will allow
unlimited posting that does not count towards your usage. It looks
like Mike's updated his block sizes and prices, so the cheapest I see
currently is a US$7.95 block that will give you unlimited posting
after the one-time payment. Reliable, excellent peering and
propogation for binary and text groups, and he's been in business for
years.

As far as strictly free options, looks like others have covered you
fairly well for recommendations.. just keep in mind that any free
server that allows posting is probably going to attract spam, and any
associated killfilters and the like.

they are better than the pay servers.
I still read from 4 free servers but post through 2 pay servers.

acess to over a half-dozen servers using several ISPs.
But I don't mind using google now and then. I have some scripts

The server I _was_ using to post to alt.religion.scientology
was news2.lightlink.com, which only carried scientology groups
and was free.
Today, two days later, that server is no longer accessible.
This is a real shame because alt.religion.scientology is
on aioe's banlist and Motzarella doesn't allow pro-Scientology
people to use its servers.
(I tried using 4 different IPs and also checked the Paths of the
last 200 posts on the newsgroup. Couldn't access the server and
no one is using it, although many peope were when I posted the
article I am 'replying' to now.)
I find it very hard to believe that this state of affairs is
a coincidence. It looks to me as if Ray Banana used his
influence, and some serious lies, to get this server shutdown
in order to hurt me and to block access to pro-Scientology
posters.
This really stinks. Ray Banana ruined free access to a newsgroup
for a lot of people, basically to get at me for expressing my
opinion of him on the Usenet.
I can't prove my allegations, but it is too much to be
coincidence and I have already seen more than enough evidence of
Ray Banana's fascism to lend considerable weight to them.
Ray Banana is anti-free-speech. He's a fascist. An enemy
of the Usenet.
If anyone knows his real name, please post it here. I'm
going to be in Europe in the Fall and would like to invite
him to dinner with me and try to persuade him to let go
of his fascism.
(Actually, I'm not really pro-Scientology, I'm pro religious
freedom and therefore against the anti-Scientology hate-group
called "Anonymous". I don't really think Scientology is all
that wonderful and have never been and never will be a
Scientologist. I feel the same way about Christianity and
all of the other religions: Not my cup of tea but they have
a right to exist.)

In order to protect my fredom of speach.
In some cases I might want the possibility to enter a discussion
without having to reveal my identity to the entire world. Imagine a
newsgroup, where subjects like scientology or hisb ut tahrir are being
discussed.
Besides I find your question a little peculiar taking into account

Ans as I said, it IS possible via free.teranews. I was only asking, if
