Good morning everyone :o)

Can one or more of you please help out one of our fellow Painter users?
Christine Perry can't seem to find a way to connect to the
corelsupport.painter and corelfeedback.painter newsgroups any more.
(Explanation below, in her message to me.)

Thanks in advance,

Jinny

Hi Jinny!

(From England)

<snip>

I hope you can help me with a small problem. One of my ISPs has just
ceased
trading & this was the only one whose newsserver enabled me to access
the
corelfeedback.painter & corelsupport.painter groups. I've tried several
of my
other ISPs,(+ free servers listed on the web), all to no avail.

I can't understand why these aren't appearing - a whole load of other
corel*.*
ones are there, covering the other products (Draw, Xara, Printhouse etc
etc
etc!!) No Painter though - Boo-hoo!

Now I can't post a query on the actual support group where I could ask
for help
- a vicious circle. Are you able to advise, or at least maybe post this
for me?
Of course, I won't see any replies, but maybe someone would be kind
enough to
e-mail me? (perr...@yahoo.com)

I really hate to trouble you, but hope you can give me some much-needed
asistance - I'm already really missing those little gems of news that
appear &
am also preparing more "wants" for P7!

Kind regards,

from a Painter Lover,

Christine Perry

Earthlink is my ISP. They list dozens of corel sites, but not
corelsupport.painter. A month ago I asked them to include the
corelsupport.painter group, but they seem to have ignored my request. Beep

Have her try going directly to Corel's newsserver - cnews.corel.ca - this
worked for me as I could neither find it on roadrunner nor frontiernet nor
primenet.

Jinny, I am new to news groups but have got connection to
corelsupport.painter through 'freenetname' ISP (in England also) at
www.freenetname.co.uk.
who provide unlimited access at local call rates and also give you a free
domain name into the bargain! I don't know whether this is already one of
Christines providers but I had no problem accessing the group through their
server. Hope this is of some use.Regards
Steve

That's what you have to do. But this will only work if you're using
software that allows you to access different newsgroup servers easily.
(Because Deja.com doesn't yet echo the new Corel products groups, I
use Netscape's newsreader to access Corel directly.)

One thing to remember is that you may need to refresh/update the
newsgroup list in whatever software you're using. Otherwise they might
be online, but you won't know it.

Steve,

As you've probably read in my earlier post, Christine's now able to read
the Corel Painter newsgroups.

Thanks so much for the additional information.
