Thought I'd post a message so that you'd realize I periodically poke my
nose in this newsgroup and read the threads, pulling out items and
issues which can be brought up within the context of the Painter
development process (bugs, behaviors, feature ideas,
usability/interface, etc.).
If you have specific issues that you feel might get lost amidst
the threads, please send them in e-mail form to 'pai...@corel.com'.
These messages ( will be read. Replies are not guaranteed, but it is a
great (secure) place to forward your wish lists, beefs and ideas,
etc.
Thanks,
Doug Chomyn

Before you buy.
It's great to hear from you, and thanks for the "direct line" to Corel
Painter Developers (you).
This will be great for those of us who've been concerned about issues
with Painter.. and suggestions for its improvement and future.
Jinny :o)

That it has, and we've been working on establishing a happy and open
dialog with Corel Painter Development, with good response from Doug
Chomyn Corel PDM, as you can see in the copied message below.
Metacreations ex-Painter Developers John Derry, Tom Hedges, and Mark
Zimmer have formed a new company named "fractal.com" and have contracted
to work with Corel to finish the Painter 7 upgrade.
During the time between Corel's purchase of Painter, Bryce, and KPT F/X
and their setting up the corelsupport.painter and corelfeedback.painter
newsgroups (available by adding the cnews.corel.ca server, then
subscribing to them), we had a temporary group named
"painterusers2corel-dialog" at eGroups that we used for its Database
utility. This we used to enter our suggestions, issues, and comments
about the Painter 7 upgrade, Painter's future, and Painter Classic as
well.. into logical categories that matchd the Painter palettes and
menus, plus some other categories that wouldn't fit into those to main
ones. This was done to both establish a dialog early in Corel's
ownership of Painter, and to organize and make useable the many concerns
about Painter expressed on the Painter-related newsgroups and e-mail
lists.
Now that the Corel Painter newsgroups are up and running, the Database
has been closed, its content converted into easily readable form, and a
PDF file sent off to Doug Chomyn.
We're now just beginning to discuss a suggestion I sent to Doug the
other day. That is, Corel setting up a similar but better database on
their website, so that we can continue to convey our thoughts to Corel
in an organized manner and one that's easier for all concerned. If this
should come to pass, it would behoove all of us to make use of it,
rather than relying on Corel to read through the many e-mails on all of
the Painter-related newsgroups and lists. It only makes sense that the
easer we make it for Corel, the more time they have to work on our
issues and suggestions.. and the happier we'll all be in the end.
So, Her Nilbog Ybbob, that's "the rest of the story".. for now....
Jinny
P.S. Nice to see you participating again. Stick around and be part of
the fun! :o)
