Maybe you should tell your friend to tell you what the actual topic of
alt.fractal-design.painter is?
Maybe you should hint that if someone wants to post for-profit
advertising to discussion groups on Usenet, you should suggest that they
can afford their own net connection so that people complain to them
instead of to you?

No crying dogs playing poker with Elvis in Pogo The Clown makeup and
a fluffy duckie with JFK's face jumping over a unicorn-shaped rainbow
that connects Bob Dylan's hair to Kramer's? How unoriginal!

Comparable actual value: leaf found lying on the ground, plus about two
minute's worth of painting at, oh, I'll give you the benefit of the
doubt and say $15/hour: fifty cents, not counting twenty-nine more
for the first-class postage.
Incidentally, there's a plug-in module for Fractal Design Painter that
randomly generates real oil paintings of scenery, flowers, sunsets,
sunrises (they're so different), birds, and animals on genuine leaves.
In fact, my printer is spitting out dozens of them right now!
BTW, it's very ecologically unsound that you have to kill a baby tree
each time you pick one of those leaves. Why don't you switch to
painting on recycled paper?
