I am advised that I should complete my planting before the end of April.
Planting in standing water doesn't seem like a great idea.
The area is also completely covered with canary reed grass.
My thought is to plant black willow cuttings. These can be driven into
the wet soil without having to make a hole, insert seedling, close hole
steps.
I would plant about 650 cuttings per acre.
I have read some research where this has been successful and has reduced
the reed grass cover.
I have a good source for the cuttings, so I can do the cuttings and then
immediately plant the cuttings.
My question is whether I can plant cuttings in the fall after the source
trees are dormant.
I would appreciate any comments.
Try Black Cottonwoods too. Post size live stakes.
