I have an EA S pack manual and was wondering if anyone out there has done
any work to these to get serious grunt from one without resorting to forced
induction (my insurance company would have a cow).

What sort of power are you looking for?
have you got CPI or MPEFI?

First thing I would do is look at getting the MPEFI/EECV off an EF or
newer Falcon, that should bump you up to around the 150kw mark.

You can spend as much as you want on the motor. and only get around 180 out
of it, but the straight 6's do respond really well to boost

Is it really that hard to get it insured with a blower where you are? cause
i just told my insurance co that there was a blower on there, and they had
no problems with it and also insured the blower as an accessory.

According to Motor magazine a short while back in thier past blast section
all ea s pack falcons are the mpfi type. As far as the ecu goes i'm not
really sure it'll give the extra 15kw you suggest. Chipping the existing cpu
seems to be the better option.

As i'm only 23 anything with psi or charger on it and my insurer does'nt
want to know me for less than $3500 approx a year plus huge excesses. As far
as blowing it goes I'll wait till i'm out of the how would you say "young
hoon bracket" even though i've got an immaculate driving record plus
attending defensive driving courses to boot (which don't mean squat to
insurers).

all ea s pack falcons had the 3.9 ... you had to pay extra for the MPEFI..
don't always believe Motor
Try the usual suspects..exhaust and induction .. see what happens

I read that article too, but its incorrect, MPEFI was also optional on
the S, i've seen at least 3 CPI EA S Falcons.

No, I didn't say you will get 150kw with just a chip upgrade, you'll
need the MPEFI setup as well., ie the injectors, dual tract inlet,
throttle body etc

I lurve my mpefi...

but a question on the EA s packs..

my factory tacho sticks... i have to thump my dashboard to get it to spring
up and show the revs...
this was once amusing, but is now painfully embarassing... any quick fixes?

oh and that motor article was pretty acurate about one thing... the
supsension was about as sporty as a handjob from magret thacher. And they DO
handle like a boat!
