Last night, Jean and I had our first dinner at home after returning Andy
to college. A couple of duck breasts were defrosted and pan-seared with
rice and a simple veggie stir-fry. The wine chosen to accompany this
meal was the 2012 Robert Chevillon Nuits St Georges Vielles Vignes.
Recent posts on Celltracker had suggested that it was ready to drink,
and they were correct. It was a dark ruby with distinct bricking at the
edges. The nose was quite floral and earthy and the mouthfeel was silky
and light on the palate, with vivid acidity and plenty of fruit.
I don't drink as much Chevillon as a I used to (escalating prices), but
this wine reminded me why I do drink Chevillon.
