Sampled a few veggie guest houses/restaurants over the weekend and
thought y'all might like to know what they were like.

Poplar Herb Farm in Burtle, Somerset: Lovely friendly proprieters.
Comfortable and homely place with a beatiful herb garden. Gorgeous
rescue animals including adorable cats, donkeys and goats. We didn't
have dinner there although they do offer one, we did have a breakfast
which was nice and filling - lovely homemade bread. Soya milk and
marge provided. Great value for money.

Fern Tor, near south Molton, N.Devon: Lovely people again. Attractive
and comfortable surroundings. We ate breakfast and dinner there and
both were HUGE and very tasty with real attention to presentation.
The pudding we had 'Fernbocker Glory' is seriously wonderful! The
proprieters are vegan so everything is very vegan-friendly. They also
had some lovely rescue animals - we adored the beautiful, friendly
greyhounds and the greedy goats. Again great value for money plus gave
us a discount as Viva! members.

Tordown, Glastonbury, Somerset: Comfortable surroundings and as they
weren't too busy we got an upgrade to a better room. More expensive
than the other two but it is right in Glastonbury which probably does
bump up prices. They don't offer evening meals but do a vegan
breakfast. Soya milk and marge provided.

We tried also Cafe Galatea in Glastonbury (thanks to Mr F's
recommendation): great relaxed atmosphere, interesting surroundings
(art for sale on the walls etc), good menu (majority can be made ok
for vegans). The food was lovely, full of taste and lovely
presentation. Soya milk is available for tea/coffee. The only
downside was the lack of vegan puds, they did have an apricotty
flapjacky thing but a 'real' cake would have ensured top marks!!

There was another couple of onmiverous places we also tried but I
can't remember the names of them - will post again later...

All of the above can be found in the Vegetarian Britain Guide.

sounds like a wonderful mini tour of the west country - and a great way of
doing it staying one night in each place - you have the makings of a great
review section here - they ought to be collected somewhere before they drop
out the bottom of the newsgroup pages - would have liked to have seen some
idea of prices though
