i am always adding stuff
so all this is approximate, premature, and presumptuous
however generally benign
the trick is
with these blender nut shakes
that you have to keep on cleaning out the vitamix container
so that you can put in small new ingredient amounts
1. take 2 cups of sprouted almonds and grind dry into powder
then add water ice and blend wet till smooth - put aside
2. take a small cup of peeled cocoa beans and grind till ground
then add water and ice and blend till smooth - put aside
3. put a handful of [pitted] dates in the container
just enough water to cover and keep adding ice
grind till grainy smooth
4. combine with large tablespoon cinnamon and 1/3 cup agave nectar,
and all the other put-aside ingredients,
add more water and ice to almost fill container and mix
to serve:
may have to add as much as an equal amount of water when serving if
too thick.
if so, take out some from the container, and mix in more water till
thinner consistency
serve very cold
this is a royal nog
to celebrate the new year
i haven't tried putting in an egg yolk
but i did add a pinch of himalayan salt
if you try it
don't worry about getting it velvet smooth
its fine just rough and ready
so if you try it
let me know what variations you try
and take pictures
phoenix
ps - if you add too much water
you can tighten with a banana
and add more nectar
Does this really taste like egg nog, btw? I've never been an egg nog
fan but raw equivalents to it have intrigued me even though I've never
tried to make any of the recipes I've seen over the years.
This year I found a recipe for falafels that tastes exactly like its
cooked equivalent, that I'm now eager to try the cooked-food copycat
recipes in raw format! It's amazing how having something that is
completely raw and healthy that tastes like "junk food" (I don't
consider falafels to be quite in the same category as MacDonald
hamburgers, say <g>) really makes raw food eating that much more fun.
:oD
actually no
nog is a nickname for eggnog or any beverage made with beaten egg,
milk and usually liquor
here are ingredients for egg nog from a common recipe,
* 6 Eggs, Separated
* 1/2 c Super fine sugar
* 1/4 tsp Salt
* 2 ts Vanilla
* 2 c Brandy
* 1 c Milk
* 2 c Whipping cream
* Nutmeg
they all have milk, sugar and lots of eggs
actually, i don't think i ever had real egg nog
i just called it egg nog because it felt timely
it might be more of a chocolate shake
i remade it yesterday with nutmeg instead of cinnamon
macademia nuts instead of almonds
and more dates with much less agave nectar
and more water
it was better
