Actually yes, I have grown tired of "Certain Customers" from time to
time. But it is the way it is, Customers comes first, We must "exceed"
their expectations.

I have a VERY BIG PROBLEM when it comes to customers who orders Water
and when they go to the Pop machines and fill themselves with Pop.
Personally, I want him/her arrested for "THEFT". but hey, Stealing pop
is a criminal offense. Even if its just Pop. It still got to be paid
by someone else.

Does anyone have any ideas how to stop these "pop theives"? Please Let
me know.

Well, it would seem to me that these people are well aware that they are
stealing and don't care. It would also seem to me that you wouldn't want
them to return to your establishment. How about yelling from 20 feet
away something about their idiodic act? Embarrass them in front of the
entire store. I'm sure somebody on this newsgroup has an idea of what
kinds of things you could holler.

Some just want to see if they can get away with it. If you show them
that they can't get away with it, they will not really mind paying for the
drink.

Well? Seriously! That was the best thing TB ever put out, so now they
take it from us? I can't believe I accessed a newsgroup called
alt.food.taco-bell, but that's how strongly I need that 4 alarm taco
back! I urge others to mount a massive letter writing campaign a la
Cagney&Lacey, we will prevail.

Yes - I agree. It was the best thing ever on the menu. I especially
loved the 4 Alarm Value Meal - A Four Alarm Taco and a Super Four
Alarm Taco. Does any one know if you can get these by special request?

I wonder if there is a type of packaging material that will DISINIGRATE
upon contact with carbonic acid? Could we make cups out of this? We
could have two different sizes, large, and small. And use them when
customers request WATER. Then they could do as they pleased. But if
they tried to but soda in it, the cup would fall apart. This wouldn't
stop them from stealing TEA...but you can't win them all.

True... so do I, but from my experience on the other side of the counter,
there are some people who are so DUMB or just plain NASTY that you can do
no right by them. If you checked out Mr. McGripes' site, you would see
that customers can and do get stupid and/or abusive from time to time.

For anyone who's ever seen the backside of a counter, I strongly
recommend Mr. McGripes' site. And for those of you who haven't...
perhaps it can serve as an educational tool for you.

Hear, hear. See also Napoleon Hill, under the habit of "Going the Extra Mile".

And then there are those who wonder why life is always difficult, even

*SNIP* *SNIP* *SNIP* lots of stuff about customers being right and such

Okay, yes, *most* of the time the customer is right, and yes, if you pay
for a service you should get it, and the person giving it should be polite
and nice, but if you are rude, vulgar, and asking for things that are not
humanly possible and then refuse to leave when asked nicely, you deserve
whatever you get.

as for the person who quoted "there are those who believe the customer is
always right. Then there are the unemployed" You've obviously never
worked in a place that had any kind of customer service. The best example
of a customer being wrong is when I was in high school (and I am no slob,
I was clean cut, nice looking, and valedictorian of my class) I had a
waitressing job, an elderly man came in, ordered a sticky bun. I served
him quickly and I was never short or rude, in fact, I was very very
polite. After I left his table and went across the room and was cleaning
a table he stood up and screamed for me to come back. I got to his table
and he let go with a string of obscenities, all because he thought the
sticky sauce on the sticky bun was too sticky and somehow this was my
fault because I was "stupid". I wasn't rude, I told him I was sorry he
didn't like the bun, I would not charge him, and free, I would give him
another kind of roll, a plain cinnamon roll, a frosted cinnamon roll, or
even a piece of pie if he wished. (My mother owned the restaraunt so I had
some freedom :) He got up, threw the sticky bun at me, cursed at me and
told me if I couldn't fix the sticky bun I gave him in the first place
that I was just plain ignorant. I started crying, my mother came to my
asked him to leave, he refused, he stood up and yelled obscenities,
annoying other customers. We had to call the police to make him leave. And
you're telling me he was right? I don't think so. This is not an unusual
story, I've seen people act like this in retail stores, fast food
restaraunts, fancy restaraunts, repair shops, and convience stores. People
who act like this are not right. And no one should be dismissed from a job
for not putting up with it.

Precisely the trade-off involved with being more intelligent than the
average person: you encounter more "DUMB people" than the average person
does. The proof is left as an exercise to the reader, but realize that
it's your choice as to how you perceive them--and how you *treat* them!

It's all the fault of the marketplace. If you really want someone to care
a whole lot about your 59¢ taco, they need to be paid enough to be excited
about it. If you want it done correctly, then go to a nice sit-down place
where the tip costs more than the typical value meal. There's no escaping
it, you get what you pay for.
