Wasabi VS Fresh Wasabi

At the best sushi restaurant here in Atlanta, fresh wasabi is served with
the sashimi. This is the only place and the only item with which I have
ever been served fresh wasabi. Everything else at this fine restaurant is
served with the standard kind, which is quite good as well, I'm not
knocking it. I'm just wondering why the difference and why more places
don't serve the fresh kind.
Any theories?

Real fresh wasabi is harder to come by, and more expensive. The
horseradish usually served is cheaper and sharper than real wasabi
root. I have not had the pleasure of trying the real thing, just
what others here have said about it.

It can be order over the Internet from Seattle.
