Fuzzy logic rice cooker question???

I just got my hands on a Sanyo 5.5 Neuro fuzzy rice cooker...

My question, I can set it up so that the rice won't be cooked for up to 15
hours in advance... So... the whole time the rice is soaking in its' cooking
liquid???

I doubt I'll ever set it up for that much advance time, but even a few hours
of soaking, won't that mess it up???

I rarely have enough time to do so, but the women in my family
claim that rice should be soaked for at least 30 minutes before
being put to heat.
