Does one consume the entire thing? Or do you only eat parts of it?
Thanks,

I was talking to a chinese girl in a sushi bar a few weeks
ago and she got ama ebi and when the heads arrived she snapped
off the feelers one by one and ate them, crunch-crunch-crunch.
I forget what she did with the rest.

I eat the whole thing. Occasionally if I am in a playful mood, I may
nibble the two feelers off first. Trust me,
the who thing is edible. Also, amaebi are small shrimp in general. A couple
of bites and it's gone.
You should try a Kuruma Ebi head sometime.

I've eaten Botan Ebi head -- around 3 inches long (not including
feelers). How big is a Kuruma Ebi head?

I would guess about or close to 4 inches
It wasn't fried..it was salted and grilled/broiled
to a crip.
I had the other part of the shrimp raw and
live, wriggling in my mouth.
Yummmmm

I ate some Botan Amaebi heads in SF that were huge!
The uni is also huge, but not as tastey as East Coast uni
(not to start one of those E. Coast vs W. Coast things:)
