Hi,

Does anyone know of any good sushi places in either Seattle or Portland? I'll be
visiting both cities for a few days at the end of the month and I would like to
indulge.

Thank you,

Nikos, at the Westin Hotel in downtown area is good. It has an all you can
eat sushi lunch during the week, regular dinners.

Toyoda Sushi on Lake City Way is another good spot, located in North side
of Seattle, out of downtown area, it is a small restaurant, but food is
great.

I lived in Portland about 6 years ago. There were several very good
places then:

On Hawthorn: Ichidai: a casual place, very good and relaxed

In NW: it starts with a 'G'. More upscale and very good

In SE near Mulwaulkie: a small place, very generous portions, not
fancy

In SW near the southern-most bridge: kinda weird: drill clearly
visible from the sushi bar. Expensive

Sorry I cannot remember names.

Cheers

That presents quite a picture. Doesn't the quail tend to squash the urchin? ;-)

I don't know the name, but there is a great sushi rest. very
near the bus station in Portland. If you sit at the bar,
they have a train track setup and fresh-made sushi travels
past you continuously (sp?) on a toy train! Very cool!
Hope you find it!

I've eaten at Koji Osakaya in Beaverton and find them to be good. They
have several locations here.

11995 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, Beaverton, (503) 646-5697
7007 SW Macadam, Portland, (503) 293-1066
606 SW Broadway, Portland, (503) 294-1169

As far as good sushi in Seattle, I *love* the little sushi place in the
lobby of the Westin Hotel in downtown Seattle. They've got the best
sushi I've ever had!

Nikko Restaurant, 1900 Fifth Avenue, Seattle, (206) 322-4641

In Portland check out:

Koji Osakaya downtown on Broadway at Alder (they have a few other
locations as well)

Obi, on NW Second and Couch

There are many other good places in town too (The Bush Garden and
Restaurant Murata downtown, Takahashi and Saburo's in SE, Umenoki in NW)
but those two are reasonably priced (as sushi goes) and always tasty. Try
the Crazy Roll at Obi, or the Salmon with Roe at Koji's.

Enjoy!

That would be the downtown Takahasi, on Broadway at Burnside. They are
cheaer than most places, and have sort of a fast-food atmosphere.

In Seattle, try "I Love Sushi" (really!) on Lake Union. Great sushi and
a window seat has a waterfront/Marina-side view of Lake Union. There's
usually a wait at peak hours, so try to head there a little off prime
time.

Try Ming's Dynasty...

It's a small Chinese restaurant (yes Chinese!!) owned by Chinese and
Korean couple who were born and raised in Japan. Very friendly place..
and great food with fair price.. only 6 people can seat at bar...
Although, always you can find 2 - 3 seats open...

SW 3rd and Washington
