I've had them (prepared them) with Pasta e Fagiole and several
other Italian dishes. The grocery stores carry them under the
name "Cranberry Beans". In the Italian shops, they are "Fagiole
Romano" or "Fagioli Romani" (Roman bean-s). They are the
speckled kidney beans - a prettier presentation than the more
common deep red kidney bean.
I've never met a bean that I didn't love. But the smell good
part is undoubtedly what you're adding to the beans.
