The attempted robbery happened at La Michoacana Auténtica in northwest
Harris County on Feb. 1.

A surveillance video shows shop co-owner Jorge Padilla working when a man
wearing a dark jacket and beanie begins speaking with him. When Padilla
opens the cash register, the suspect reaches over the counter and attempts
to steal their money.

As this is happening, Jorge Padilla's wife, Nadia, witnessed the attempted
robbery. The shop's surveillance video shows her standing up from her seat
in a booth at the end of the store, ensuring her children were safe, and
retrieving her gun.

Nadia then fires a shot, which misses the robber but scares him away as he
is chased by Mr. Padilla.

"My husband could be dead right now. I wanted to start crying and I got
nervous and I was gonna have a breakdown," she told the ABC affiliate.

"I hope he learned his lesson, and I hope everybody who can see that
thinks twice about it next time," Nadia added.

Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff's Office told ABC 13 that
they suspect the same man is responsible for multiple robberies in the
area.

Local authorities are asking anyone with information regarding these
robberies to contact the Harris County Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes
Unit at 713-274-9100.
