The first bite wasn't too bad, but after that bite everything kind of fell
apart into the sleeve that the sandwich was served in. (And I never
received a napkin.) When I looked in the sleeve, I saw mayo that I hadn't
gotten to, yet, because all I tasted was bacon and bun - I didn't even get
to the burger itself.
By the time I got halfway through the sandwich, I put the thing back into
its box and let it go. I didn't taste any darn mushrooms, didn't see any
mushroom sauce, all I saw was mayo. ALL that for $4.70.
I *do* think that Hardees has a fairly decent burger, but I wouldn't order
this particular sandwich again.
kili
Yeah Im not really much of a Hardee's fan either ever since they chagned to
angus. Too expensive.. too slow, and too much ketchup/mustard. But I DO
really miss the bacon-bacon cheeseburger. The current Bacon Cheeseburger
sucks compared to it. AS I've said a few time's already here. And they
have DELICIOUS cookie's, make sure always to get a few.
Okay, may I ask...... do you get lettuce and tomato on your burger or do you
just get it like it's pictured in the ads? I need greenery, myself. Just
askin' out of curiosity.
kili
No I Always get it like its advertised, except without mayo. I'm not much
of a lettuce fan on Burger's because sometimes if you take a bite and it
doesn't tear off completely, the lettuce soaked in ketchup/etc will fall off
and land on your shirt/face which is not a good thing especially when your
driving.
I hear ya. That tends to happen with bacon or tomato, too. The whole thing
pulls out and you're a mess. :~)

Kili,
Since most of us have this poser killfiled, we can only see his posts
when you respond to them. Until this guy stops the bullshit and posts
under a real name, I have no use for him. While I suspect it may be one
of the late Jerry's brothers, he/she should at least respect the dead
and assume a proper identity.

Hey Jerry, it's good to have you back posting again. I just ignore
DicKhead and Squirt, give 'em time & they'll grow up. Maybe. Cracker

As the _real_ Jerry Sauk used to lecture us, this group is for people
who _love_ fast food.
Negative comment's like your's are not wellcome.
(Spelling and punctuation adapted to conform to the way the real Jerry
used to like it.)
I am declaring this topic CLOSE'D.

Tim, I AM the real Jerry. Are you saying you think I'm dead? Because if
you are then I will immeditaly kill-file you as well.
Steve, that WAS his only post. Get a life.
Thank's for the support. But I already know that they wont grow up, because
Steve has admitted many multiple time's that he's a troll.
What's your favorite restaurant?

Now that I think about it, I stop the most at Burger King, Subway, and
Checkers. BK has an OK milkshake, but i wonder why most places don't serve
malted milks anymore. All it would take is add some malt powder to their
mix. I really like the different taste it adds. That would add a few cents
to their costs though, must be why they don't do it. Don't get to your
favorite stop, Taco Bell, very often. Nothing against them, just don't seem
to steer myself there. Have fun, surf safe...Cracker

You know, I have to agree with you. What happened to malted shakes? (Not
that I can consume them anymore, but.....) You're absolutely right; it just
takes a bit of added powder. I loved those when I was a kid.

Ovaltine and variants are still available in nearly all grocery stores.
As for declining popularity, trends change. The niche that is now
"wheat grass shots" and Jamba Juice drinks, not to mention Starbucks
and that massive niche, moves in....other markets fade out. To wit:

-- egg creams
-- cherry Cokes (faded out, but has come back in last 20 years)

I never heard of Checkers. What do they sell there?
Now you're beginning to sound more like your namesake....except for the
missing apostrophe in Checker's, of course.
Look, Jenny, there are no Checkers in my part of the West, no Rally's,
and no Sonics, but I have _heard_ of them. Jesus Christ on a Popsicle
stick, one cannot follow fast food without having heard of these
places.
And when one has not, a 24-second jaunt into the Wikipedia is
sufficient. For example,

Irony is lost on you, as it was with Jerry.
The real Jerry used to add apostrophe's to nearly all plural's, as
here. Hence the spelling of "Checkers" without the apostrophe was a
giveaway that the real Jerry was not the author.

No, I am not calling you dead. You are writing, so you cannot be dead.
However, why you are writing under the name of the late Jerry Sauk is
what we are all wondering about.

You mean the same consequences that Sqwertz received? Seems you reply

I noticed the same thing. Jerry at least stood by his word. There is
nothing real about this idiot - his name, or his killfile.

I'm back... Looks like I didn't miss much. You do know what a Florida
'cracker' is, don't you? He's the boss, the man who cracks the whip. I'm
not the boss, it's just the persona I assumed for this group. It shouldn't
be offensive to anyone.
TO JERRY...Checkers / Rally is a fast-food chain down in the SE U.S.
states. They serve burgers, fries, chili dogs, and several 'specialty'
sandwichs. The fries are about the best you can get at a fast-food. They
leave the skin on, season them just enough to give them a great flavor, and
fry them until they're medium BROWN, not pale yellow. Have fun, surf
safe...Cracker

To me, Steak and shake is a sit-down restaurant, not really a
'fast-food' place. They have GREAT steakburgers any way you want. The food
I've gotten there is top-notch; If a bit 'pricey''. If you're not in a big
hurry, it's a good place to stop and enjoy some really good food; even good
malts as DK said. You don't run onto them as often as you do the usual
fast-fooders, but they're worth looking up. Have fun, surf safe..Cracker
Every one I have seen has a drive-thru so I would consider them to be
fast-food. Some here will include pizza joints - the late Jerry did.
-dk
This is PROOF that we have a Jerry poser posting here. The real, and
unfortunately dead, Jerry couldn't type a post that was so (nearly)
grammatically correct and without spelling errors.
End of story. Time to change your handle, poser.
-dk
I've got to look up their menu on their website. Thanks!
kili
Okay, I just looked up Steak and Shake's online menu and my gosh, do they
just serve any sandwich with ONE patty, whether it be a burger or chicken?
Who can eat that much?
If I went there, I think I'd just have a BLT. Everything else is overkill.
kili
What's left?
-dk
Ah.... okay. I guess they do that for advertising purposes. Make it sound
larger than it is.
kili
You obviously don't read very well. The singles are clearly listed in
their online menu.
-dk
Dan, I never said that Pizza joint's were fast-food. All I said was they
are on-topic discussion here since they are part of the same culture. (ie
fast,delicious, cheap food)
This is just my personal opinion but I think it's disgusting leaving the
skin on the fry's. But then again I never tasted it myself so I cant say
for sure.
Damn right Steve. If it was me, I'd sue you for $21 million Dollars
because that's what I figure you cost them with your lie's.
There are 1.39 Billion People on the Internet, and figure only 1 percent
actually reads alt.fastfood. Of those 14 Million people, lets say ONLY 1
percent of them decided to skip ONLY ONE MEAL at Taco Bell because of your
lie's. That's 139,000 thousand people. And assuming that it is JUST THAT
PERSON ALONE (not counting other people in the group buying food the typical
meal of $15. That's $15 dollars times 139,000 people.
That's... believe it or not $21 million that you are responisble for in
lost money.
Yes and before you both pointing it out yes I had help from my Brother doing
the math. And NO he did not agree with the logic but it's fool-proof logic
to me.
I, personally, love the skin on my fries. Steak cut is my preference (which
means thick wedges) and I make them either oven baked until crisp or deep
fried in peanut oil; I don't think they can be beat. Having said that, I
eat the skin of my baked potato; I eat potato skins, deep fried, and loaded
with cheese, bacon, diced tomatoes & sour cream; I leave the skins on when I
make "dirty" mashed potatoes; and I even leave the skins on the potato
slices when I make potatoes au gratin. Oh! I also leave the skins on when
I make potato salad.
I think it kind of depends upon the type of potato that you're using. Some
skins taste like dirt no matter how much you scrub 'em. :~)

Jerry's Brother, you've been threatening to do this for, what, 3 weeks?
So do it already. Stop teasing us with your "plan's" to do it....just
do it.
Weird how Jerry hated KFC and other chicken places and how Jerry's
Brother hates French fries with the skin on.
What's the connection? Can't be the presence of bones....
I know! It's the _skin_! Jerry's Brother is grossed-out by the skin
still on potatoes, whether French-fried or baked or boiled or fried.
And Jerry was grossed-out by the skin still on the chicken at KFC and
other chicken places.
It was never the bones in chicken, it was the _skin_ still on. Jerry
even said he was fine with eating "Chicken Core Dump Blue" and
"McChicken Clucksters" and even "Chicken Bits in Batter." He just
didn't like chicken with the skin still on, whether Original or Crispy.
The Sauks are grossed-out by skin.
--Tim May
Sorry, but this reminded me of "It rubs the lotion on the skin and it does
it whenever it's told." Heck, somebody had to say it. :~)
kili
Please hurry, fake Jerry.

That's odd. Jerry had a hell of a lot of skin.
-dk
The real Jerry never did either. I guess his brother learned to keep
you "alive" so there's someone to fight with.
