Announcing Over The Coffee's 2nd Annual Birthday Bash!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

"In the beginning the net was dark and empty,
and without aroma
and Folgers filled the depths of the void."

Finally! Over The Coffee has turned 2 years old! (that's
nearly 137 in net-years). After much wailing and gnashing of teeth,
Over The Coffee's 2nd Annual Birthday Bash gets under way!

Yes, we're a bit late getting started but I think you'll find
the result is worth it. Over The Coffe will be extending the
celebration well into October.

For over 2 years now, Over The Coffee has served as the center of the
known coffee universe...uh well, OK, I'm lying of course, but what's
a few thousand parsecs between friends?.

Over The Coffee originated in these coffee-related
newsgroups. Before there was an "Over The Coffee", there
was simply the "Coffee Resources Guide". Over the past two years,
I've received tremendous input and encouragement from the people
who frequent these groups. Over The Coffee first opened its doors
to the public on September 1, 1994. With the 2nd Annual Birthday
Bash, it's now time to take a little break and say thanks to the
community that helped to create Over The Coffee.

I'm also very pleased to announce a tremendous response to
Over The Coffee's call for birthday sponsors. Sixteen sponsors
have contributed more than 50 individual prizes with a combined
value of more than $1,600, more than doubling last year's prizes.
I am extremely grateful for their participation - this celebration
would not have been possible without them.

The fact that Over The Coffee is not operated as a 'for profit'
web site makes their contributions all the more appreciated.
Please keep them in mind during the coming year when you need
coffee, syrups, equipment, and related services.

The grand prize this year will again be the superb

Solis SL-70 Home Espresso Machine,

an exceptionally well built home unit with a retail value of $300.
The Grand Prize this year is provided by Riley's Coffee and Fudge in
Fairview Heights, IL (thanks Barry!)

There are 3 additional prizes in the Grand Prize Drawing. You can
learn more and register by going to Over The Coffee and clicking
on "2nd Annual Birthday Bash". Over The Coffee is at:

http://cappuccino.com

2nd Place prize is 1 pound of whole bean coffee per month for a whole
year from Quartermaine Coffee Roasters. (a $100 value)

3rd Place prize is an *autographed* copy of

"Coffee Floats, Tea Sinks" ,

Ian Bersten's fabulous pictorial history of coffee and coffee making
equipment. It is an extremely well researched and written book
containing hundreds of color photographs which any true coffee enthusiast
or professional would be proud to own. Again, thanks to Barry Jarrett
of Riley's Coffee and Fudge . (a $90 value - before the autograph)

4th Place is 3 lbs of Capulin - a very high quality coffee from the
jungles of Mexico. Courtesy of Ash Creek Orchards and our very
own alien abductee, Seth Appell. (a $50 value)

In addition, Over The Coffee will be giving away dozens of smaller
prizes in the various Speaking Of Coffee conferences over the next
4 weeks so watch closely. I'm also pleased to announce that we have
a number of prizes this year of interest to coffee professionals
including Espresso 101, the espresso training video from Bellisimo
(a $89.95 value) and case of Senza Rivale premium flavoring syrup
courtesy of Ricter Enterprises, Inc. (a $50 value)

Also, you home roasters should watch the home roasting conference -
green beans and a home roasting kit will be given away.

There are also several small cash prizes.

SO GET REGISTERED AND STAY TUNED! And thanks for all your support
and encouragement.

==>I went to this web page (which is neat, BTW!), but didn't see an
option for "2nd Annual Birthday Bash." What am I missing?

Sorry, Tess. It should be visible in the upper left hand corner of the
main screen . Is anyone else having this problem?

You can go directly to the registration page at:

Please let me know if you continue to have problems. Thanks

account. didn't mean to confuse.

And now the ante is raised! This should actually read:
4 lbs. of Capulin to the lucky winner! Good luck to you all :)
