Seeking Vancouver coffee shop recommendations

I'll be visiting Vancouver soon (for the first time) and was wondering
whether anyone could recommend any cafes or coffee shops. I live in
Seattle, so I'm interested not in the big chains (plenty of those here)
but in the smaller, independently owned shops that the locals might love
but which tourists probably wouldn't know about.

Hi Walt,

You can now find a great coffee just about anywhere in Vancouver! A great example would be Viva Fine Foods, in Kitsilano. Sorry if this is too late for your trip!
