I'm SURE this one must have been discussed here before. However, it
was before my time, and I'm curious:

I've heard that Eve Plumb (the divinely talented actress who so
effectively portrayed Jan Brady) became a porno actress and was
addicted to heroin for a while.

True? False? What?

Most likely false. Eve Plumb _did_ star in a made-for-teevee
movie some years back (called _Dawn: Portrait Of A Teenage
Hooker_ or something like that) in which she played a teen
runaway who becomes a prostitute. It had a good soundtrack
by The Runaways.

When I was 7 or 8, an older friend once showed me a playboy
centerfold of either Marcia or Jan Brady, I don't remember which.
In light of the above, it could have been Jan. At the time
it really looked like a character from the Brady Bunch. At the
time, I believed it.

No. She _did_ once say that she had been typecast as a goody-goody,
and would welcome a role as a teenage hooker. This got a lot of play
in Weekly World News, if I recall correctly -- "Jan Brady as Teenage
Hooker? Wait and See, Says Jan" -- or something like that.

Nor is there any evidence to support the heroin angle -- although, in
the few roles she's had since the Brady days, her acting has certainly
served as an excellent soporific :-)

Eve Plumb has been trying to get her career back on track for years,
with an on-again, off-again production of "Mary Pickford" and stints
with the theatrical troupe, The Groundlings.

On the other hand, the longtime rumor about Mom Brady and Greg appears
to have at least a kernel of truth to it, at least according to Greg...

Haven't heard of this one. The porno-star UL that I heard was
that Marcia (not Jan) was the porn-queen and could be seen in an XXX
titled "Texas Lightning". Of course, it was a FOAF who had seen it. I've
never found a movie, X or otherwise, called that (not that I scrabble
through every pornshop around looking for it.) Sounds bogus.

The rumor I heard (actually, a friend heard it and told me) was that
Cindy was the porn star, and that was why she didn't do the Brady
Bunch reunion special.

As far as centerfolds go, I don't think I'd pay to see any of them
naked.

The 'real' Cindy appeared in the tv series "Brady Brides."
She is currently a tennis shoe designer under contract to
Converse, doing licensed kiddie-shoes with Disney characters
on 'em. The movie "texas lightning" described earlier as
a porn film was actually a low-budget movie about stock
car racing, with nary a nekkid person to be seen. Really,
truly, none of the Brady "actresses" have done porn work --
although I have heard that a disgruntled boyfriend once
circled some pretty tame photos of 'Marcia' without full
clothing.

A good investment, for Bradymaniacs, is "Greg's" book, "I Was
A Teenage Brady." In here, susan olsen is described as having
matured into a foul-mouthed, Jack Daniels-slugging young lady
who sounds like -- well, like the Anti-Cindy.

The story I recall hearing (and they wouldn't have said it if it
wasn't true!!) was that either Jan or Marsha was horribly killed when her
scarf was caught between the doors of a departing subway train, somewhere.
I think I like the porn star story better.

Interesting. I always head this about Cindy (Susan Olsen).

The movie is called "Nothing to Hide," and it's soft porn which won a lot of awards in the genre. It was more funny than sexy.
