Has anyone heard the ghost story before about a man who killed his wife
and children and then put their severed heads on fence posts? There's
an old farmhouse just outside of Valparaiso, IN and that supposedly
happened here a long time ago. I just wondered if that was a known
story and it was just imported here, or if it really happened. The
other part of the legend (which has not been true at all in my
experience) is that at midnight you can see their heads. I just was
wondering if anyone knew if a similar tale somewhere else.

This reminds me of something that happened in my town. About five years ago, a
doctor killed his wife & kids and then himself. What was wierd was, everybody
said that for about a week beforehand there were vultures flying over his
house. I can vouch for the story of the murders being absolutely true, and I
saw the vultures, but to be fair, there were lots of vultures throughout the
neighborhood, they were just at their most numerous over his property. But it
sounds like your story predates the vulture thing, so I doubt they're related.
