It says Microsoft is building a super computer for weather forecasts. Has
MSFT jumped from the Surface to this sort of kit?

Microsoft has been building their own server farms for a long time.
This looks like a variation on that theme.

Let me guess... when a really big storm is coming it will
get a Blue Screen of Death. Predictions will occasionally
stop until you install the latest upgrade, which will make
it stop working completely. At other times, the predictions
will be wildly inaccurate, but that's not a bug, it's a feature.

Output will be in a proprietary language which will be almost
impossible to translate into any standard format. Third-party
hackers will find work-arounds almost as fast as M$ changes
the format.

And, of course, the rental charges will be more than what it
would cost to rebuild after a hurricane.
