Bitsavers posted the functional characteristics of the IBM 360-195,
"an information-processing system designed for ultrahigh-speed,
large-scale scientific applications." IBM's biggest machine of its day.
"In the Model 195, five separate units - each to a large degree
autonomous - may be operating concurrently: processor storage,
storage control unit and buffer storage, instruction processor.
fixed-point/VFL/decimal processor, and
floating-point processor. Furthermore, each of these units
may be performing several functions at one time. In the
floating-point processor, for example, as many as three
floating-point operations may be taking place concurrently."
