I thought IBM Poughkeepsie was a former pickle factory taken over
during the war. Tom Watson Jr kept the labs separate from Endicott to
promote growth in computers as opposed to tab machines, though both
sites created major innovations.
Anyone know Poughkeepsie site today--what's old, what's new?
Wasn't the old site in Armonk, NY, south and to the east of
Poughkeepsie?
here is blurb that claims in 1948 they attempted to locate UN where ibm
is now located:

I visited POK many years ago; the plant where they were building 370's
fits the "converted pickle factory" description, although it was
spotless. Your quote from the article says "Poughkeepsie data center",
which is most likely another facility.
Executive Briefing Center (bldg 705) on plant site ... has aerial view
of the site

appears to show that bldgs 918, 965, 966 (from the map) have been
leveled???
there use to be whole lot of IBM stuff in poughkeepsie area that were
off the main plant site ... but possibly has now been all consolidated
back to the main plant site.
I noticed you cited the IBM History website. Would you know if that
is still maintained? The exhibits on it used to change periodically,
but it doesn't appear to have been touched in a long time.
There was a lot neat stuff on there, and it saved me from a long trip
to Somers, NY.
