I don't think this is what David has in mind. I have a similar problem
with an old program, and posted a similar question without response :-(
There used to be a way to "protect" BASIC source as an option analogous
to the ",a" mentioned by Ray to create an ASCII file. The way to break
the protection was to poke some value into a specific location in memory
as I recall. But I can't remember the value, or the address. And it
may have only worked with Tandy's TRS-80 Model I BASIC for all I know.
But I would still be *very* interested in a solution, if one is available
for BASICA/GWBASIC.
Cheers, Ian S.

Not a lot of help, but I do know that such a program exists. I just wish
I could remember where it is. Somewhere, I remember seeing an artilce on
this. I would suggest a Periodicals Guide search as a place to start. Of
course the magazines that would be most likely to have it would not be
included. Try back issues of "Microcomputing" for example. (The one that
was originally titled Kilobaud Microcomputing, or something like that. I
THINK that is where is was. You might also check Creative Computing, Byte,
Dr. Dobb's, etc. But I know there was an article because I remember trying
to see if it would work on CP/M BASIC. (It wouldn't.)
