Hi,

I have a place I'm trying to rent, and sometimes advertise online.
People saying they are from other countries often act as if they
want the place right away, and they always want to send a
check in excess of the amount I'm asking saying the extra
money is for their expenses. Is this a scam where they want
to send me a bad check for too much money, with the idea
that I'll send them the "difference" which would the the only
real money that would be exchanged, or something like that?

Pretty much, yes it is a giant scam. Tell them you have to hold their
check 90 days and see what happens.
The most precious possession on Earth
is our own people
and for this people
and with this people
we will struggle
and we will fight
and never slacken
never tire
never falter
never doubt
long live our movement
long live our people!!!

I live in an university town and this is a scam that happens to everyone who
tries to advertise on the university's website. There have been a few
suckers caught in these types of scams. Please don't be one.
