In this developing story alert, Local 12's Deborah Dixon tells us there is
no connection between them, except for one thing, they are all unsolved.
The motive for the double murder of two teens last September is still a
mystery. When the gunfire stopped, a 19 year old and 16 year old were dead
in the hallway of a Silverton apartment.
Three months later, four men were methodically murdered in a Sharonville
apartment. All died of stab wounds to the heart.
Again, three months later, an 80 year old man and a 33 year old disabled
woman in a wheelchair were stabbed over and over at an apartment on
Reading Road.
Three months after that, the up close method of murder was repeated in an
apartment on Hackberry Street. Vernon Allmond was stabbed to death in his
apartment. Retired Dr. Jerald Freedman killed the same way in his.
Deborah Dixon: "The repeated stabbings, then the killer turns methodical
and sets fire to hide evidence?"
Betty Johnson, Friend: "The brutality, why did he deserve that? Why did he
deserve that?"
Betty worked with Vernon here at V-Works Salon and Day Spa, where he was a
master weaver and makeup artist. She can't stop thinking about how her
friend died.
"To think about the person who did this, knowing they are capable of such
rage is scary still out there, whose safe?"
Three of the four multiple murders were by stabbing, an unusual and very
personal way to kill.
Dr. James Daum, Criminal Psychologist: "It's a very strong rage, if
someone kills multiple people, multiple stab wounds, and wants to have a
front row seat to their demise."
But Dr. Daum says the unusual number of multiple murders does not reflect
a trend.
"These things are random, might go a few years without any, we don't know
why."
Why? That's also what survivors of murder want to know. And in these four
cases, the other questions is who?
