On my 45th birthday in May I made a resolution to concentrate on my
fitness. I started by eating much better and doing a lot of walking.
Normally at least 5 miles a day split between morning and evening, not
counting all the walking I do at work. For the past 6 weeks or so, I have
been trying to add weight training to the routine. It has been working very
well. I am 5'2" and went from nearly 140 pounds to 120 in a little less
than 3 months. I am at the lower end of my ideal weight so I don't want to
lose any more. In fact I want to gain weight, but I want it to be mucscle
and not fat. I am in reasonably good health and probably proportionally
stronger than most of the people that I know.

I posted here for advice mainly on nutrient intake and help with getting a
comprehensive weight training routine. I have been eating probably around
1500 calories and at least 50 grams of protein or so on most days, although
I noticed that I have been needing more food in the last several weeks. I
suppose this is because my metabolism is increasing. The few things I have
found on the net recommend that a man eat a lot more than this amount of
calories, but that is for a someone a lot bigger than me. Still I think I
may need to eat more.

I don't have access to a gym, but I do have a weight set and bench to use.
I think I have a decent routine going, but I may be missing some things. If
someone could poiunt me to a good web resource on setting up a
comprehensive weight training program, I would appreciate it.
